Watch: Six-foot alligator casually strolls outside Virginia motel; video goes viral
Alligator strolling casually outside a motel

A six-foot alligator was spotted outside a motel room in Virginia, United States. It was captured by the Fairfax County Police Department after a caller reported seeing the large reptile near their room.Visuals of the alligator casually walking near the motel with its owner went viral on social media. In the video, an officer can be heard saying, “There is actually an alligator outside of the motel.”One user commented, “Interesting outcome for local wildlife management. Curious how such an animal ended up in that area.”According to the BBC, police later learned that the alligator’s owner was transporting it from New York to a zoo in North Carolina when it escaped. The officer cautiously approached the alligator, shining a flashlight on it and estimating its length to be about six feet. He also warned motel guests to bring their dogs inside to avoid any incident.Police officials said that Virginia law prohibits the possession of certain exotic animals that are not native to the state. No injuries were reported and the owner was not cited.
