Watch: Subway lines submerged as heavy rain batters New York City; flash flood warnings issued

A video posted online showed water rising outside a crowded train, showing just how serious the flooding was.Flooding forced the closure of both directions of the Cross Bronx Expressway at Jerome Avenue, according to the NYPD chief of transportation. The roadway, a key route through the Bronx, was completely blocked by water.New York’s emergency management agency posted on X that parts of the city and the mid-Hudson region were experiencing flash floods, urging residents to take caution. In Metuchen, New Jersey, mayor Jonathan M. Although conditions began improving late Monday, officials remained on alert for more rainfall and possible disruptions.Emergency crews were seen responding to incidents throughout the affected areas, and transportation services were working to restore normal operations.
