The network’s U.S. PR account offered a tweet that read, “TNT Sports has agreed to a multiyear contract renewal with @WayneGretzky. Catch him on @NHL_On_TNT opening night this Wednesday, Oct. 8, with coverage starting at 6 p.m. ET.” Aged 64 years, Gretzky was first hired by TNT in 2021 after the network won NHL broadcast rights, giving him time with former NHL players Paul Bissonnette, Anson Carter, and Rick Tocchet. From then onward, he has added legitimacy and insight as well as comic relief to all broadcasts. This new contract emerges as a sequel to Warner Bros. renewing Gretzky’s agreement.
