Days after its drubbing in the Delhi assembly polls, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) said bagging 43.6 per cent votes, only two percentage points less than the winner Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), too, was a big achievement, given the latter’s misuse of “money and agency power”.
AAP Delhi unit chief Gopal Rai on Monday announced that the party will restructure the organisation in the coming days as he attacked the BJP for not being able to form the government so far. The results for the Delhi assembly elections were announced on February 8 and the BJP is yet to finalise a chief minister face.
“In the Delhi Assembly polls, the people gave 43.6% vote share to the AAP and 45.6% to the BJP. The BJP scored only two percentage points more than the AAP despite openly flouting the rules of the ECI in Delhi. The BJP had all the money and muscle power with them and used deceit in their campaign,” Rai said.
“The seat gap between the two parties is higher — with AAP at 22 and BJP at 48, but the vote share for AAP is a big achievement for the party. Despite all this, the people of Delhi trusted Arvind Kejriwal, AAP and its work…This is a very big achievement and a matter of relief for AAP that despite BJP using all its MPs, governments from across the country, 43.6% people stood with us. Delhi has never seen such an election where the voters were threatened and so much money power was used,” Rai added.
Speaking about the inability of the BJP to finalise a government in Delhi, Rai went on to say that they were correct in saying that the BJP is contesting without a CM face.
“In a city like Delhi, where the top leadership of the BJP sits, they are not able to finalise a CM. So far, it was said that they are awaiting the PM’s return. Now, the PM is back (from abroad) and yet the name is not announced,” he said.
Rai also said that there will be infighting in the BJP for the CM post that will result in an unstable government in the future.

STRONG OPPOSITION
The AAP will fight against all anti-people policies of the ruling BJP in the coming time, Rai announced.
“Our organisation will always be in front of the government with questions and will remind them to fulfil the promises they made to people to gain power,” he said.
RESTRUCTURING OF ORGANISATION
“The process of restructuring of the organisation will start in the next few days to make it stronger wherever it was weak,” Rai said.
The meetings will be held in the next few days to gather the feedback from various position holders in the organisation.
Rai said they were waiting for the BJP to form a government to plan AAP’s future plan of action but as the BJP could not finalise it so far, “We are now disappointed.”
The selection of the leader of the opposition is also pending as first the government has to be formed, he added.
