Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said the results of the Maharashtra Zila Parishad elections reflect the people’s continued faith in the BJP-led Mahayuti alliance, describing the mandate as a vote for good governance across both rural and urban parts of the state.

PM Modi also praised Mahayuti workers for their grassroots efforts, saying they had worked tirelessly to highlight the performance of the Maharashtra government and the NDA’s broader vision.

“Once again, Maharashtra blesses BJP and Mahayuti,” said PM Modi, noting that following the alliance’s strong showing in the Municipal Corporation and Municipal Council elections, the Zila Parishad results had delivered another clear endorsement.

“Across rural and urban Maharashtra, the people of the state want good governance and an alliance which works in the spirit of Maharashtra’s glorious culture,” he said, expressing gratitude to the people of the state.

“My compliments to every worker of the Mahayuti for elaborating on our solid track record and commitment to good governance,” he added.

According to the latest trends, results have been declared for 587 of the 731 Zila Parishad seats, with the ruling Mahayuti alliance registering a commanding lead.

The BJP has emerged as the single-largest party, winning 208 seats so far. It is followed by the Ajit Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Party with 126 seats and the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena with 120 seats. Together, the Mahayuti alliance has secured 454 seats.

The opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) has so far won a total of 103 seats. The Congress is leading on 46 seats, Shiv Sena (UBT) on 38, and the Sharad Pawar-led NCP on 19 seats. Other parties and independent candidates have collectively secured 30 seats.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said the results show that voters have once again expressed confidence in the Mahayuti alliance.

He noted that the BJP has emerged as the number one party across urban, semi-urban and rural Maharashtra.

Counting of votes is still underway in some districts, but the trends point to a decisive victory for the BJP-led Mahayuti in the local body polls.
