A fresh political row has erupted within the Karnataka Congress after minister Satish Jarkiholi defended the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, including the removal of nearly one crore names.Jarkiholi said the revision in Karnataka was conducted properly, arguing that the deleted entries included voters who had died, shifted residence or appeared more than once on the electoral rolls. He also said Congress’s objections were directed at how the exercise was conducted in other states. However, Karnataka Congress president B K Hariprasad has questioned the exclusion of voters classified as “absent”, raising concerns about whether eligible voters could have been left out. The contrasting statements have intensified debate over the party’s criticism of SIR and the Election Commission’s voter-list revision process. What do the latest remarks mean for the Congress’s “vote chori” campaign, and can the Election Commission address concerns over voter deletions?Watch for the latest updates on Karnataka politics and the SIR controversy. n18oc_indian18oc_breaking-newsn18oc_politicsNews18 Mobile App – https://onelink.to/desc-youtube
