Late Maharashtra Chief Minister Ajit Pawar’s son Jay has called for barring VSR Aviation, whose Learjet plane carrying his uncle crashed in Pune’s Baramati town last month, from operating flights as the investigation into the incident continues.

In an Instagram story, Jay Pawar said black boxes could not be easily destroyed in an airplane crash, and the people of Maharashtra had the right to know the complete and transparent truth about this accident, which killed Ajit Pawar and four others.

“VSR should be immediately barred from operating flights, and a thorough and impartial investigation must be conducted into the potentially serious irregularities in the maintenance of its aircraft,” he wrote.

This came after NCP (SP) MLA Rohit Pawar said that no action has been taken so far against VSR Aviation, which he alleged operates flights in violation of all rules. He pressed the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) to take appropriate action against the company.

On Wednesday, Rohit Pawar demanded that the removal of Civil Aviation Minister K Rammohan Naidu from his post until the probe is completed, alleging that he and his Telugu Desam Party (TDP) have had “friendly” relations with the owners of VSR Ventures.

NCP leader Ajit Pawar and four others were killed in a plane crash at Baramati in Pune district on January 28. As the probe into the plane crash continues, the aircraft accident probe agency, AAIB, on Tuesday said that special support has been sought for the retrieval of data from the Cockpit Voice Recorder (CVR) of the Learjet 45 plane involved in the fatal crash.

Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation Murlidhar Mohol said on February 7 that investigators had recovered the aircraft’s black box and that its data is currently being analysed. Authorities have not yet released details on the cause of the crash, and officials said the investigation is ongoing.
