Amid the massive political shift in the Aam Adami Party (AAP), Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Friday said that the exodus of seven Rajya Sabha MPs of the party is a “direct blow” to the “dictatorship” of Arvind Kejriwal.

On Friday, AAP suffered a massive jolt as seven of its Rajya Sabha MPs — including Raghav Chadha, Ashok Mittal and Sandeep Pathak, Harbhajan Singh, Rajendra Gupta, Vikram Sahni and Swati Maliwal — quit the party, asserting that the Arvind Kejriwal-led party had strayed from its principles.

Following their decision to leave the party, Raghav Chadha, Sandeep Pathak and Ashok Mittal on Friday joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Responding to the move, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta took to X and wrote that the AAP, which was founded with the slogan of ‘inquilab’ (revolution), is now ending in mistrust and separation.

“In your party now, there is no common man left; only corrupt men remain. Mr. Kejriwal, the departure of two-thirds of the Rajya Sabha MPs is a direct blow to your dictatorship. After Delhi, now it is Punjab’s turn,” she added.

The AAP termed the resignation of the seven MPs a “betrayal of Punjab” and accused the BJP of engineering the split by using the fear of central agencies.
