Manish Tewari Warns Of ‘Robot PLA’ On LAC, Sambit Patra Hits Back At Congress

A Chinese humanoid robot has become the latest subject of a political war of words between the Congress and BJP, with BJP MP Sambit Patra attacking Congress MP Manish Tewari over his warning about China’s military technology.

Tewari had said that India could soon face a robot-driven People’s Liberation Army (PLA) along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) if the country failed to advance its military technology. Patra responded by accusing the Congress of spreading misinformation, supporting India’s adversaries and discouraging the armed forces.

Tewari Warns Of Robot Army At LAC

Tewari issued his warning days after a Chinese company claimed that its humanoid robot had broken Usain Bolt’s 100-metre world record. “If India is not careful it could be very soon fighting a robot PLA on the LAC,” Tewari posted on X on Tuesday.

He said the development of humanoid robots in China should serve as a reality check for India.

Tewari said that despite the “bombast” of being an emerging great power, India was still far behind China in technology. He added that China was ahead of the United States in 67 of 75 critical technologies.

If India is not careful it could be very soon fighting a robot PLA on the LAC .The impressive development of humanoid robots by China should give us a reality check that despite all the bombast of being an emerging great power really how far behind we are qua China in the…

BJP Calls Congress Mindset ‘Chinese’

Reacting to Tewari’s post, BJP MP and spokesperson Sambit Patra sharply criticised the Congress.

Patra said the country first needed to fight what he called the “Congress mindset” at the LAC and international borders.

“First we have to fight the Congress mindset at the LAC. They are the ones who were found inside Chinese tents when Doklam face off was taking place,” Patra said.

He accused the Congress of being supportive of India’s enemies and spreading misinformation.

Patra also alleged that the party had discouraged the Indian Army during the Doklam standoff, when Indian and Chinese forces were facing each other.

BJP Targets Rahul Gandhi

Patra also targeted Congress Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, referring to remarks he attributed to him during the India-China tensions. “Rahul Gandhi said ‘maar dala hamare army ko’ (The Chinese have thrashed our army). We have to fight his mindset,” Patra said.

Further hitting out at Congress, Patra said, “They were the ones who were proponents because when the surgical strike and the airstrike took place, they in fact stood with the opposite side. They commented upon India and they wanted evidence. And recently, during Operation Sindoor, unfortunately, we became the only country to have a discussion on the floor of the Parliament whether Indian Army did well or not, despite having all the evidences of destroying innumerable bases in Pakistan. Such is our opposition, such is Rahul Gandhi, the first, the robot called as Rahul Gandhi, the robot of China called as Rahul Gandhi. We need to fight his mindset democratically.”

Delhi: On Congress MP Manish Tewari’s tweet, BJP MP Sambit Patra says, “First we have to fight the Congress mindset at the LoC, and at the international borders also. Because they are the ones who in fact are the prop-ups of our enemies. They are the ones who spread… pic.twitter.com/guc7FSE6qY— IANS (@ians_india) August 25, 2026

Chinese Robot Breaks 100m Record Claim

The political exchange followed a claim by Chinese robotics company Unitree about its new humanoid robot, “Superman”. Last week, the robot reportedly ran 100 metres in 9.39 seconds, faster than Bolt’s men’s world record of 9.58 seconds.

Unitree claimed that “Superman” can reach a top speed of 12.66 metres per second, or about 45.6 kilometres per hour.

The company also said the robot demonstrated a standing jump of about two metres. According to Unitree, the robot has legs measuring 0.85 metres and can make the jump from a standing position. However, the robot’s performance claims have not been independently verified.
