Kolkata, Omnichannel jewellery retailer CaratLane on Wednesday said it plans to open five to seven new stores across Eastern India over the coming months and add 40-50 outlets nationally in FY27, as the Tata group firm looks to strengthen its retail presence in key markets.

Currently, it has a national retail network of more than 388 stores, including 69 in Eastern India.

The company said the expansion would be supported by investments in its retail network, product portfolio and omnichannel capabilities.

CaratLane recorded 42 per cent growth in the first quarter of FY27, while its buyer base increased 28 per cent, the company said in a statement.

In West Bengal, where it currently operates 31 stores across 11 cities, the jewellery brand plans to increase its network to 35 stores as part of its longer-term growth strategy for the state.

The company on Wednesday launched a new flagship store in Gariahat, one of Kolkata’s major commercial hubs, as part of its expansion in Eastern India.

Spread across three floors, the store incorporates regional elements in its design, decor and ambience, reflecting the aesthetic and preferences of consumers in Kolkata.

“Kolkata is a key market for CaratLane, driven by strong cultural roots and an appetite for contemporary design. Opening our Gariahat flagship, which thoughtfully incorporates regional flavours into its design and decor, marks an important milestone as we scale to over 35 stores in West Bengal,” CaratLane Managing Director Saumen Bhaumik said.

The Gariahat outlet is among CaratLane’s flagship stores nationally and offers jewellery across everyday wear, gifting and special occasions, along with the company’s omnichannel shopping experience.

The company has recently unveiled its Kaashika and Polki collections, showcased by Bollywood brand ambassador Yami Gautam Dhar.

It has also partnered with actor Ashlesha Thakur to engage younger consumers following the launch of Shaya Diamonds and its contemporary everyday 9kt gold jewellery collection.

CaratLane said the expansion in Kolkata and the wider eastern region was part of its broader FY27 growth strategy aimed at making contemporary jewellery more accessible to consumers while strengthening its presence in high-potential markets. PTI
