Vinod Kozhikode, who has appeared in several Malayalam films in villainous and supporting roles, has opened up about his wife’s death. The actor became emotional while recalling the final moments he spent with her.In an interview with Movie World Media, Vinod Kozhikode described what happened on the morning of his wife’s death. He noticed her breathing was not normal before leaving for his regular morning walk.The actor immediately sought help from neighbors and took his wife to the hospital. Despite the medical team’s efforts, she passed away within an hour. Vinod Kozhikode also spoke about how he had always wished to die before his wife. He said he never considered being present when his wife died a blessing.
Vinod Kozhikode recalls the morning his wife died
Vinod Kozhikode said he follows a regular morning routine. He usually wakes up at 5 am and leaves for a walk around 5:15 am. However, the morning of his wife’s death was different. He noticed something unusual when preparing to step outside. Her breathing did not seem normal to him.“I am someone who wakes up at 5 every morning and goes for a walk by 5:15. That morning, after waking up and finishing my morning routine, when I was stepping outside, I felt that she wasn’t breathing normally. When I looked, she had already gone down. I immediately called the neighbors and took her to the hospital. They did everything they could. Within a maximum of one hour, she was gone. What can we do?” Vinod Kozhikode said.
‘Being a witness to your wife’s death is not a blessing’
The actor said the experience left him with a deep sense of grief. He explained that he had always hoped that his wife would survive him.“I don’t think being a witness to your wife’s death is a blessing. Because I had always wished that I would go first and my wife would be there,” Vinod Kozhikode said. He also recalled how difficult the situation could have been if he had been away from home. According to Vinod Kozhikode, he was aware that his absence would have made the circumstances even more difficult.
Vinod Kozhikode recalls his calls to his wife
Vinod Kozhikode said he used to call his wife regularly when he was away. He recalled that she would sometimes question why he called her so often.“If it had happened while I was in Rajasthan, it would have taken me two days to reach here. Even that day, when I asked her, she didn’t say anything and told me to go. I would call her every day. Sometimes she would ask why I called so often and say that she wasn’t going anywhere from there. I would tell her that it wasn’t about that, but that I needed to know whether she was okay there, and that was why I was calling,” he said.
‘Comfort is something that no one can give’
Vinod Kozhikode also shared his thoughts on grief and how people deal with loss. He said another person cannot completely take away someone’s pain.“Comfort is something that no one can give to another person. Based on my understanding, one person cannot truly comfort another. We can only say some comforting words. What they have to experience, they have to experience themselves,” he said.The actor added that people should be allowed to express their grief. He believes crying can help someone release the sadness they are carrying.“The person who needs to cry should sit and cry.
