Telangana CM Revanth Reddy challenged KTR in his Sircilla stronghold, promising a Cabinet berth to the Congress candidate who wins the seat while announcing major projects

Revanth Reddy, along with ministers, MLAs and officials, laid foundation stones for RDO offices in Sircilla and Vemulawada, Tahsildar offices in Thangallapalli, Veernapalli, Vemulawada Rural and Rudrangi, and a Sub-Registrar office in Vemulawada. Foundation stones were also laid for a 10,000-metric-tonne-capacity godown and associated facilities in Rudrangi.
Addressing a public meeting in Sircilla, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy described the region as a place where courage and devotion come together. Referring to Vemulawada Sri Rajarajeshwara Swamy, he said the people of Sircilla carried the legacy of their ancestors’ struggles against the Nizam and the Razakars.
Revanth Reddy said Sircilla, known for its textile industry, has a long association with handloom and powerloom weaving. He said thousands of families depend on the sector for their livelihoods and highlighted the region’s reputation for producing finely woven sarees, including sarees known for being thin enough to fit inside a matchbox.
Revanth Reddy questioned why handloom-worker suicides and migration to Gulf countries had continued despite K T Rama Rao representing Sircilla for several terms since 2009. He also criticised the previous BRS government over its handling of migrant workers, claiming that families of workers who died abroad had faced difficulties in bringing their bodies back home.
Revanth Reddy criticised the KCR family and alleged large-scale corruption during the previous BRS government. Referring to KTR’s political career and time spent in the US, he questioned how the former minister had accumulated his wealth. These were political allegations made by the Chief Minister at the Sircilla public meeting.
Revanth Reddy accused the previous government of allowing the exploitation of Maneru river sand and alleged that Godavari water management had affected local communities. He also raised questions about the impact of Mid Manair Dam flooding and alleged that the political interests of the KCR family had come at the expense of Sircilla’s people.
During the event, Revanth Reddy highlighted funds sanctioned for the Young India Integrated Residential School in Sircilla and land acquisition for canal works linked to Kaleshwaram project packages 9, 10, 11 and 12. Financial assistance cheques of Rs 10 lakh each were also distributed to flood victims. The Rajanna Sircilla district administration presented the Chief Minister with a memento.
Revanth Reddy said the Congress government had spent Rs 1,741 crore on weavers during its first 1,000 days and sanctioned Rs 1,700 crore for development in Rajanna Sircilla district. He highlighted the new yarn depot in Vemulawada and development works at the Vemulawada temple. He also listed new government facilities, including MRO, Sub-Registrar, women’s police and traffic police offices, along with Young India Integrated Residential Schools.
Revanth Reddy said development and political change were taking shape in Sircilla. He called for a Padmashali community leader to be sent to the Legislative Council in the upcoming elections and announced that the Congress candidate who wins Sircilla would be inducted into the Cabinet, subject to the party high command’s approval. He also alleged that check dams on the Maneru river had been washed away and made corruption allegations against the previous government.
Revanth Reddy asked voters to choose between what he described as “family rule” under the previous BRS government and “people’s rule” under the Congress. He questioned the previous government’s record on double-bedroom housing and ration cards for the poor. He also alleged that commissions were taken in the distribution of Bathukamma sarees and said the Congress government had cleared Rs 350 crore in pending dues related to the sarees.
Revanth Reddy said the Congress government had paid Rs 36,000 crore to farmers under Rythu Bharosa and Rs 20,614 crore under the farm-loan waiver scheme. He also said 75,000 government jobs had been filled, government employees were being paid on the first of every month and dues to retired employees had been cleared. He highlighted the appointment of the mothers of Srikanthachary and Chakali Ailamma’s family members to positions in the Telangana Women’s Commission.
