New Delhi: Footwear major Bata India has invested Rs 300 crore in upgrading its Batanagar factory in West Bengal with next-generation manufacturing technology, as part of its ongoing transformation agenda.
The investment includes installation of Polyurethane Direct Injection Process (PUDIP) and IM EVA machines, which will be used to manufacture Floatz and Bata Industrial footwear.
Anjan Kundu, Head – Supply Chain Management, Bata India said the upgrade at Batanagar is a key step in the company’s transformation journey, aimed at improving product quality, innovation, and operational efficiency.
The factory was originally set up in the 1930s and continues to be a significant part of West Bengal’s industrial landscape.
Bata India currently operates more than 500 stores and has been expanding its footprint in smaller towns, with about 130 new stores opened in the past year over half of them in non-metro locations.
