Former West Bengal BJP president Dilip Ghosh married his party colleague Rinku Majumdar on Friday. The two have known each other since 2021.
The BJP leader tied the knot in a simple Vedic ceremony, with close relatives in attendance, at his residence in Kolkata.
Photos of the newlywed couple’s private wedding have surfaced on social media. In the pictures, Majumdar is dressed as a traditional Bengali bride, while Ghosh is seen in traditional Bengali groom attire. The images show the bride smiling as she happily puts the varmala around the groom’s neck.
Despite being 60 years old, this is Ghosh’s first marriage. For Majumdar, it is her second marriage and she already has a son.

It has been learnt that the marriage proposal came from the bride’s side. Confirming this in an interview with News18 Bangla, Majumdar said that Ghosh took some time to respond and consulted his mother before making a decision.
“We were talking. He prepared himself mentally. In our conversations, he tried to understand and know me better. Then he felt that I was suitable for him. After that, he made his own decision and discussed it with his mother before letting me know,” she said.
When asked if Ghosh accepted the proposal immediately, Majumdar revealed that he took nearly three months to respond. “No… no… no. He took some time. I had asked him. Initially, he didn’t show interest. Then he took three months, spoke to his mother. After that, he informed me,” she added.
Meanwhile, the BJP leader, known for his quirky remarks, has been associated with the RSS since his youth. He served in various roles across the country before becoming actively involved with the BJP in 2015.
As the party’s state president, he is credited with establishing the BJP as the main opposition in West Bengal, replacing the CPI(M).
Ghosh, a former MP from Kharagpur, is also expected to play a key role in next year’s assembly elections in the state.
