India will host the inaugural ICC Women’s Champions Trophy in 2027 with Mumbai and Vadodara as the two venues for the six-team tournament.
The tournament will take place from February 14 to 28, 2027 at Cricket Club of India in Mumbai and Vadodara International Cricket Stadium.
India will host the inaugural ICC Women’s Champions Trophy from February 14-28, 2027, in Mumbai and Vadodara, featuring six qualified teams including Australia, England, and South Africa. India replaced Sri Lanka as host for the tournament, which uses T20I rankings for qualification.
Teams that have qualified include Australia, England, India, New Zealand, South Africa and Sri Lanka. The six teams earned qualification based on the ICC Women’s T20I Team Rankings at the July 6 cut-off date.
All six teams will play each other once in the round-robin league. The two highest-ranked sides will face each other in the final on February 28.
India replaces Sri Lanka as host
The ICC Board formally approved India as the replacement at the tournament on September 2. Bangladesh, India and South Africa had been considered as possible replacements before the final choice.
Sri Lanka had originally been given hosting rights for the tournament. But the ICC decided to relocate the tournament after taking into account the reform process taking place within Sri Lanka Cricket as a result of commitments made at the ICC Annual Conference in July.
ICC Chairman Jay Shah said the inaugural tournament would provide another major platform for women’s cricket and more motivation for teams to climb the rankings.
He said it would bring together the world’s leading teams while establishing a stronger annual calendar for women’s international cricket.
The full fixture list, match timings and ticketing information have yet to be announced. The ICC said this will take place at a later stage.
The tournament will also give India another chance to host a major women’s cricket event after its successful hosting of the ICC Women’s ODI World Cup.
