Karnataka’s cabinet expansion exercise has reached its final stage, with Congress high command leaders in Delhi set to meet again this afternoon. Once the meeting ends, the list of new ministers will be handed to state leaders — reportedly arriving in a sealed envelope.

The suspense over who will make the cut has only deepened. Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and KPCC president BK Hariprasad have each submitted separate lists of names to the high command, which is expected to go through them in detail on Monday before signing off on a final version.

When Will The Swearing-in Happen?

The final list is expected to be out today, August 3, with the oath-taking ceremony likely to be held at Lok Bhavan in Bengaluru in the evening. If disagreements persist, the ceremony could be postponed, though sources indicate this is unlikely.

Why A Sealed Envelope?

The party high command had said the list would be sent through AICC general secretary KC Venugopal, but with his visit now uncertain, the list is expected to arrive in a sealed envelope instead.

Who Could Get A Berth?

No official confirmation has emerged on which names have made the final cut, and even speculation on probables remains thin — keeping the anticipation high.

Delhi’s Congress leadership called Shivakumar on Sunday to brief him on the developments, Kannada Prabha reported, a call expected to bring closure to two months of lobbying by minister aspirants and repeated trips by state leaders to Delhi.

Twenty ministerial posts have remained vacant through this period, with Shivakumar and other leaders making three trips to Delhi without reaching consensus — a process now set to conclude.
