Anand Dubey Quits Shiv Sena (UBT), Says ‘Nation Comes First’

Shiv Sena (UBT) leader and national spokesperson Anand Dubey has resigned from the party’s primary membership and the post of national spokesperson, saying that the country’s interests must take precedence over political differences.

Announcing his decision in Mumbai, Maharashtra, Dubey recalled his visit to Pahalgam following the April 22 attack. He said he had travelled to the area on April 26 with his colleague Gulabchand Maurya, deputy organiser of the legislative wing.

“Through you, I want to tell the people of the country that we may have differences and disagreements, but when it comes to our country, the nation comes first,” Dubey said.

Dubey Recalls Pahalgam Visit

Recalling the situation during his visit, Dubey said there was an atmosphere of gunfire in the area. He added that he had met National Conference leader Farooq Abdullah and Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha.

Dubey said he assured them that his party fully supported them and stood with them following the attack.

He also said senior MPs and MLAs should have visited the area. “Senior MPs and MLAs should have gone there,” he said, referring to the visit after the Pahalgam attack.

Explaining his position, Dubey said he might not hold an elected municipal position, but remained committed to the ideals of a Shiv Sainik inspired by Balasaheb Thackeray.

“I may be a nobody, not even a municipal corporator, but I have the spirit of a Shiv Sainik inspired by Balasaheb Thackeray,” he said.

He added that a crisis facing the country should be the biggest concern, placing national interest above his party and himself. “The party comes later, Anand Dubey comes later, and my country comes first. My nation first, my India first,” he said.

Dubey’s resignation marks his departure from both the primary membership of Shiv Sena (UBT) and his position as the party’s national spokesperson. In his remarks, he emphasised that political disagreements should not come before the country, citing his visit to Pahalgam and his interactions with Farooq Abdullah and Manoj Sinha as he explained his stand.
