Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) Joint General Secretary Surendra Jain hit out at the remarks of opposition leaders amid the ongoing controversy surrounding the alleged Ram Temple donation embezzlement, saying the organisation will not allow these leaders to get away with their “absurd and baseless” allegations.

His remarks came after VHP President and senior advocate Alok Kumar sent a letter to the investigating officer seeking action on statements made by several political leaders, including Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Arvind Kejriwal and Ram Gopal Yadav, regarding alleged irregularities in donations.

The letter requested that the individuals, who alleged financial irregularities amounting to as high as Rs 20,000 crore, be summoned by the investigating agency for questioning and asked on what basis they made such claims and where they obtained the information.

‘Won’t Let Them Get Away’

Jain called the allegations made by opposition leaders “absurd and baseless” amid the ongoing row involving the Ram Temple.

“Take Ram Gopal Yadav, for instance. His history reveals his staunch opposition to Lord Ram. It was he who claimed that Ram had occupied the Babri Masjid. Despite this, he is positioning himself as a devotee of Ram, and alleging a theft worth Rs 20,000 crore. Where did this information come from? Similarly, consider Kejriwal, who until recently claimed he wouldn’t visit Ram Janmabhoomi, whose party members used to say that ‘even a dog wouldn’t go there,’ is now visiting as a Ram devotee, yet is also levelling allegations of theft regarding jewellery and funds,” he told news agency ANI.

Jain questioned why these leaders had not provided any evidence for their claims and demanded that the SIT and the investigating officer summon them for questioning. “It is no longer acceptable for anyone to make false allegations, create sensationalism, and then simply walk away. We will not let them get away with it,” he said.

Investigation Continues In Ram Temple Donation Row

Jain said the investigation into the alleged embezzlement is being conducted impartially and the VHP was fully satisfied with the process. He also remarked that those who had a history of misusing donations and looting the country had no authority to make such allegations.

He also said a meeting on the Ram Janmabhoomi Trust has been called to consider the resignations of Champat Rai and Anil Mishra. “The current situation will also be discussed in detail. Whatever decision is deemed appropriate will be taken by the trust,” he told IANS.

The VHP had earlier shifted the venue of its upcoming Central Management Committee meeting from Ayodhya to New Delhi amid the ongoing investigation. The five-day meeting, originally scheduled to be held in Ayodhya from June 25 to 29, will now take place in Delhi on July 18 and 19.
