NRI maths teacher from Australia, crores of propertyin India: Chilling murder plot by family members revealed
Australian NRI Sunil Sharma was murdered by his brother in India over crores of property.

A week after Surbhi Sharma, the daughter of an NRI maths teacher in Australia, launched a plea to find her father, the chilling murder plot has been revealed by the police in India as they made four arrests. And the four are his brother, brother’s wife, son, and another person involved in the plot. 66-year-old Sunil Sharma was a maths teacher at Diamond Valley College. He was close to retirement and came to India to sell two properties. But he mysteriously disappeared in India which came to notice first on May 23, when a person in India reported that Sharma went missing.Sharma, an Indian-origin Australian citizen, arrived in India just a day before. Some renovation work was going on at the property before the alleged sale, for which Sharma traveled to India. He had crores of property in his name in India.“Anyone who’s met my dad will say he is intelligent, strong and funny, but he is also loving and sensitive. I count myself so lucky to have had a father like him,” Surbhi said last week as she sought help in locating her father. Sharma was dead by that time. Surbhi also said her father used to travel to India regularly. “He goes to India often, especially since my mum passed away four years ago. So he’s just been trying to sell his properties there so he can come back and retire.”“My brother and I have been told not to go there because it’s not uncommon that family members can also go missing if there is something to do with property or money,” she said.It is not yet confirmed whether the police in India have located Sharma’s body.Sunil Sharma’s brother Satish Sharma plotted to kill the NRI to get his properties through a forged power of attorney. A property dealer was also involved in the plan. According to reports, Sunil Sharma was lured to India by Satish with a property deal. As he arrived, the plan was set in motion. The NRI was given sleeping pills and then killed by hitting his head with a baseball bat. The accused then destroyed all evidence and also dumped the body.Satish Sharma, his wife and son and the builder have been arrested.CCTV footage from one of the properties showed Sharma arriving and leaving twice while overseeing a group of painters on May 22, the last day he was seen alive.
