Parvesh Verma Hits Back at Kejriwal Over ‘Who Are You?’ Jibe at BJP Chief
The political battle between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) intensified on Monday, with Delhi minister Parvesh Verma taking a swipe at AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal over his “Who are you?” remark aimed at BJP national president Nitin Nabin.
Verma mocked the former Delhi chief minister, saying, “National President is a very big deal, but do you even remember me or not?”
The exchange comes amid an ongoing political confrontation over the alleged Ram Mandir donation controversy, with both parties stepping up attacks as the investigation progresses.

How the war of words began
The latest row began after BJP national president Nitin Nabin criticised opposition leaders over what he called their silence whenever Hindu deities were insulted. Speaking at the BJP’s Shakti Kendra Sanyojak Sammelan in Lucknow, Nabin said Rahul Gandhi, Akhilesh Yadav and Arvind Kejriwal should not consider the Hindu religion so weak that people would believe their rhetoric.
He said the public would never tolerate any insult to Sanatan and added that the country’s heritage had been preserved through the sacrifices of previous generations. The remarks came as the BJP intensified its outreach ahead of the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.
Responding to Nabin’s comments, Kejriwal simply asked, “Who are you?”
Rekha Gupta’s sharp counterattack
Kejriwal’s response drew a strong reaction from Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, who accused him of allowing political frustration to turn into arrogance.
In a post on X, Gupta introduced Nitin Nabin by outlining his political journey. She said the 46-year-old is the youngest-ever national president of the BJP, the world’s largest political party. She noted that he had represented Bihar’s Bankipur Assembly constituency for four consecutive terms, started his political career as a Yuva Morcha activist and now serves as a member of the Rajya Sabha.
Gupta then turned her criticism towards Kejriwal. “Everyone knows you’re feeling desperate and disheartened. But it seems your ego is still riding high in the seventh heaven,” she said.
Drawing a comparison with an earlier remark by former West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee about Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Gupta added, “Mamata ji once asked too, ‘Who is this Amit Shah?’ Time answers every question. Even Ravana’s arrogance couldn’t survive; who are you to think yours will?”
Ram Mandir donation probe continues
The political exchanges come as the investigation into the alleged misappropriation of Ram Mandir donations continues.
Police sources said Ayodhya Police have obtained court permission to question five of the eight accused lodged in jail in connection with the alleged donation theft case.
The accused – Anukalp Mishra, Lavkush Mishra, Ram Shankar Yadav, Karunesh Pandey and Manish Yadav – are expected to be questioned inside the jail. Investigators will formally record their statements and may later seek custodial interrogation if required.
Meanwhile, the Ayodhya Sant Mandal has extended its support to Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust general secretary Champat Rai and urged the Trust not to accept his resignation.
The Ram Mandir donation case has become a major political flashpoint, with both the BJP and the AAP continuing to trade accusations as the investigation unfolds.
