The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has secured six seats in the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council elections, while the Samajwadi Party (SP) has won three of the 11 seats, according to the latest consolidated results. Counting and the finalisation of results for the remaining seats are still underway.
Reacting to the results, Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya said the BJP had repeated its previous performance but had expected to win more seats. He said the party would review its performance and work towards securing victory in the forthcoming elections.
“BJP has repeated its previous performance. We were expecting to win even more seats but we did not win those many. We will look into this. SP won where it should not have. We will introspect. We will make efforts to ensure that the BJP wins once again in the forthcoming elections,” Maurya said.
BJP Retains Key Constituencies
The BJP retained Bareilly–Moradabad, Meerut Teachers, Meerut Graduates and Lucknow Teachers constituencies. The party had four confirmed victories in an earlier count, before subsequent declarations increased its tally.
The overall results indicate a BJP-led performance in Uttar Pradesh, with the party winning six seats against the SP’s three in the latest consolidated update. The remaining results are still being finalised.
