Sources say a proposal is in the works which says if Congress refuses to mend its ways, another axis of like-minded opposition leaders could be formed which could include TMC, Uddhav Sena, NCP, and RJD
Mamata Banerjee’s TMC is angry with the Congress and has made up its mind. Refusing to be seen by the side of the Grand Old Party, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) has been catching up with other partners in the INDIA bloc.
The allies are of the opinion that Congress has never been sensitive to their concerns. A recent case being cited is that of Rahul Gandhi’s speech in Lok Sabha where he kept attacking Veer Savarkar, much to the discomfort of the Maha Vikas Aghadi constituents Uddhav Sena and NCP (SP). Sources say Sena and TMC leaders met and discussed the issue and objected to the embarrassing situation that Gandhi had put them in.
TMC MP Ritabrata Chatterjee, speaking to CNN-News18, said: “Banerjee has proved it not once but multiple times that she alone can spearhead the fight against the BJP. No one else can and has not been able to. Hence, she should be the leader of the front.”

Not just this, another instance is being cited to show how Congress is a bad ally. On the last day of discussion on the Constitution in Parliament, BJP raised “Kejriwal Chor Hai” [Kejriwal is a thief] slogans as AAP leader Sanjay Singh rose to speak. It was pointed out that while the rest of the INDIA bloc allies protested and countered the narrative by attacking the prime minister, the Congress leaders kept mum. A top opposition leader said: “We know there are elections in Delhi, but surely Congress could stand by us.”
Interestingly, while many led by Congress protested on the Ambedkar issue, the TMC was absent. However, Banerjee made it a big issue herself and took to social media to attack the government. Not just this, party leader Derek O’ Brien moved a privilege notice against Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
Sources say a proposal is in the works which says if Congress refuses to mend its ways, another axis of like-minded opposition leaders can be formed. This could include TMC, Uddhav Sena, NCP, and RJD. Once again, Banerjee is the frontrunner to ensure formation of an axis which takes on the BJP on “peoples’ issues” rather than “incoherent” campaigns.
