Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has launched an intensive tour targeting 115 Assembly constituencies across the state, unveiling development and infrastructure projects worth over ₹38,000 crore.

This widespread outreach comes ahead of the 2027 UP Assembly elections, as the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) aims to recoup ground lost during the 2024 general elections.

CM YOGI’S TOUR STRATEGY

The ongoing campaign is designed as a direct counteroffensive in regions where the Opposition Samajwadi Party (SP)-Congress alliance demonstrated significant strength during the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.

Of the 115 Assembly segments targeted by Adityanath’s tour, the SP-Congress alliance led in 67 segments (SP in 54, Congress in 13) during the 2024 parliamentary elections. The BJP led in 47, while its ally Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) led in one.

Since May, the Chief Minister has already toured more than 44 of UP’s 75 districts. State leaders report that the tour will soon expand to include the remaining districts.

CM YOGI’S TOUR: WHY THE 115 SEATS MATTER

The 115 Assembly seats targeted by CM Yogi Adityanath are crucial because they represent the exact electoral battlegrounds where the BJP suffered its heaviest damage during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

The 115 seats span 43 Lok Sabha constituencies and cut directly through the core family bastions of Akhilesh Yadav’s Samajwadi Party and Gandhi-family strongholds.

The list includes:

SP Fortresses: Mainpuri, Etawah, Azamgarh, Firozabad, and Rampur.

Congress Strongholds: Critical segments within Rae Bareli, Saharanpur, and Barabanki.

By launching development blitzes in these areas, Yogi Adityanath is taking the fight directly to the opposition’s backyard to dilute their local influence.

A major driver behind the 2024 opposition surge was the consolidation of Dalit, minority, and non-Yadav OBC voters behind the SP-Congress “PDA” (Pichhda, Dalit, Alpasankhyak) coalition. Furthermore, recent analyses indicate that a segment of upper-caste Brahmin voters—who hold significant sway in roughly 115 to 125 Assembly seats—have become the target of intense political courtship by Akhilesh Yadav. Pumping ₹38,000 crore into these multi-caste constituencies allows the BJP to shift the narrative from identity politics back to governance, development, and direct welfare delivery, say analysts.

By 2027, the Yogi Adityanath-led government will have been in power for two consecutive terms (nearly a decade). Facing natural local anti-incumbency, the party is using this tour to proactively resolve local grievances, showcase infrastructure upgrades, and fast-track employment schemes. Winning these 115 contested seats is vital for the BJP to cross the 202-seat majority mark in the 403-member UP Assembly.

THE ₹38,000-CRORE PROJECTS

The developmental blitz covers a massive range of public welfare and infrastructure upgrades intended to appeal directly to voters, according to reports.

Physical Infrastructure: Upgrading local roads, power grid infrastructure, and water facilities.

Social & Civic Development: Laying foundation stones for schools, hospitals, panchayat bhavans, and regional tourism structures.

Direct Welfare Delivery: Alongside project launches, the Chief Minister is leveraging public meetings to distribute benefits directly to welfare scheme beneficiaries.

THE ROAD TO 2027

The political ground shifted significantly in 2024 when the BJP’s Lok Sabha tally in Uttar Pradesh dropped sharply to 33 out of 80 seats (down from 62 in 2019), while the SP and Congress collective surged to 43 seats.

To reverse this momentum, the state government is executing a multi-pronged strategy. Beyond local infrastructure, the administration is aggressively pushing massive expressway projects, including the ₹26,315 crore Vindhya Expressway, while rolling out major youth outreach initiatives like accelerated recruitment drives to fill thousands of vacant government positions before voting begins, say experts.

CM Yogi Adityanath is targeting 115 Assembly constituencies with over ₹38,000 crore in projects to recoup ground lost during the 2024 general elections. These constituencies are crucial as the Opposition SP-Congress alliance led in 67 of them during the Lok Sabha polls, and they include strongholds of the Samajwadi Party and Congress.

The ₹38,000-crore development blitz includes physical infrastructure upgrades like roads, power grids, and water facilities. It also covers social and civic development, such as schools, hospitals, and tourism structures, alongside direct welfare delivery to beneficiaries.

The 2024 Lok Sabha elections saw the BJP’s tally in Uttar Pradesh drop significantly to 33 seats, while the SP and Congress collectively surged to 43 seats. This shift prompted the BJP to launch a multi-pronged strategy, including CM Yogi’s intensive tour and development projects, to regain momentum for the 2027 Assembly elections.
