Judith Leiber Couture has officially re-entered the India market with its debut boutique at The Chanakya, Delhi, Chandni Agarwal, CMD and Founder of Sparsh India Couture, as well as India Spokesperson for Judith Leiber Couture, told ETRetail.

Sparsh India Couture, the retail arm of Sparsh Industries and parent to Little Tags Luxury, will anchor the brand’s India journey.

“Delhi was a natural choice for our entry into India, given its role at the heart of the country’s fashion and celebration landscape,” Agarwal said, adding, “We see India as a key long-term market and plan to grow strategically… building meaningful connections with a new generation of luxury consumers who value individuality, heritage, and timeless glamour.”

The India entry aligns with the global expansion strategy of Authentic Brands Group, which owns the brand and operates across 150 countries with over $38 billion in annual systemwide retail sales.

Henry Stupp, President, EMEAI at Authentic Brands Group, said, “Markets like India represent a significant long-term opportunity. Following our expansion into key international destinations, including the Middle East, this launch reflects our portfolio-wide strategic focus on building a sustained presence across the world’s most dynamic luxury markets.”

India’s luxury inflection point is central to the timing.

“India is entering a high-growth phase for luxury with double-digit CAGR visibility. Rising HNIs and global exposure are driving demand,” Agarwal noted.

“We are seeing a move away from logo-driven consumption to collectible, statement luxury. Judith Leiber bags are more art than accessory,” she further added.

The brand is taking a sharply curated retail approach. The Chanakya store is an intimate, immersive format housing 40–45 pieces, with pricing aligned to global benchmarks and products largely manufactured in Italy.

“This is not a scale-first play. We want to first understand the depth of demand,” Agarwal asserted.

“We will study Delhi for the next 2–3 years before entering Mumbai, which is the next obvious market,” she said, adding that other cities will follow only once ecosystem readiness improves.

Judith Leiber, the brand founded in 1963, is available at department stores and specialty retailers across North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia.

Unlike most luxury brands leaning into omnichannel, Judith Leiber is taking a conservative digital stance.

“The brand will not be sold through Indian e-commerce platforms. Social media will be used purely for storytelling and driving in-store experience,” Agarwal said.

The brand will continue to operate a single global website without a dedicated India e-commerce platform.

Financially, the brand is targeting breakeven within 18–24 months.

“India could become a top-5 market globally in the next 3–5 years,” Agarwal said, adding that the country could eventually contribute 20–25 per cent to global revenues.

Apart from this, Sparsh India Couture has also signed Elie Saab, which will open in the next three months.

Meanwhile, Little Tags Luxury continues to scale with 50+ international brands across multiple cities and has recently signed a licensing deal for Nautica Kids.
