A heated argument broke out between two Samajwadi Party leaders during a meeting attended by party chief Akhilesh Yadav in Lucknow on Saturday.
As the argument escalated, the two leaders reportedly hurled abuses at each other. After witnessing the commotion, the SP chief reportedly asked the two leaders involved in the verbal spat to leave the meeting. The incident prompted the party to disband its organisational units in Uttar Pradesh’s Etah and Kasganj.
Why Did SP Leaders Clash?
The meeting, attended by around 250 senior leaders and office-bearers from the two districts, was held to assess organisational preparedness ahead of the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections. A video of the clash has surfaced on Social media platform X.
According to a report in India Today, citing party sources, a disagreement between SP leader Manjeet Yadav and former Etah district panchayat chairman Jugendra Singh Yadav escalated into a verbal clash.
Manjeet Yadav, who is the nephew of former Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council chairman Ramesh Yadav, reportedly objected to remarks made by Jugendra Singh Yadav during the discussion.
The meeting was convened to review the SP’s organisational strength and election preparedness in Etah and Kasganj. During the discussion, Manjeet spoke about the party’s previous electoral performance before Jugendra Singh addressed the gathering. Manjeet objected to some of his remarks, triggering a heated exchange. Attempts by other leaders to intervene failed to calm the two. Soon after, the two leaders left the meeting. An hour later, the SP chief also left the meeting at party office.

Later, the SP chief reacted to the incident, saying, “…These things happen, it’s okay. This is all because of the arrogance that comes with money. Remember, whoever becomes too wealthy will eventually leave you behind. Now, let’s work together.”
The party is expected to constitute fresh organisational teams in both districts following the dissolution.
