The contracts of assistant coach Ryan Ten Doeschate and fielding coach T Dilip have ended, and the BCCI will not extend their tenure any further, board secretary Devajit Saikia confirmed to PTI on Tuesday.

The BCCI confirmed assistant coach Ryan Ten Doeschate and fielding coach T Dilip’s contracts have ended and won’t be extended, with Subhadeep Ghosh the frontrunner for the fielding coach role before India’s Sri Lanka tour.

The BCCI is now set to appoint a new fielding coach ahead of India’s tour of Sri Lanka. While Saikia said that “two or three names” are under consideration, it is understood that former India women’s and India A team support staff member Subhadeep Ghosh is the frontrunner to replace Dilip and Ten Doeschate.

“Assistant coach Ryan Ten Doeschate’s two-year contract with Indian men’s team ended on June 10. Fielding coach T Dilip, who was given a one-year extension after his original term ended, also had his contract ending on June 8,” BCCI secretary Saikia told PTI in an exclusive interaction.

“The BCCI continued with the duo till the end of India’s tour of United Kingdom. However, the BCCI is not giving them any extension. There is no question of accepting resignation as the contract has ended,” the secretary clarified.

It is understood that Ten Doeschate had intended to leave. He was brought into the coaching setup at the insistence of head coach Gautam Gambhir with the expectation of taking up the fielding coach’s role, but was not assigned a specific responsibility during his two-year stint.

In Dilip’s case, his one-year extension ahead of the 2025 Test series in England reportedly came at the insistence of a senior player. However, sources indicated that there was dissatisfaction with his performance, particularly after India’s disappointing white-ball tour of the United Kingdom.

“We are currently in talks with two to three names and expect to finalise the details within a day or two. India will have a new fielding coach for tour of Sri Lanka,” Saikia said without revealing the candidates.

However, Ghosh, who hails from Assam and has been part of the BCCI system for the last six to seven years since Rahul Dravid’s tenure at the National Cricket Academy, is currently considered the leading contender for the role.
