A fresh political controversy has erupted around Rahul Gandhi and the ‘Jhooth Ki Goonj’ website, which claims to fact-check statements made by the Congress leader during his Chhatron Ki Goonj student outreach events. The website says it examined 40 statements made across four events in Kota, Dehradun, Prayagraj and Pune, classifying 29 as “false” and 11 as “misleading.” It says its assessment uses government data and other sources. The controversy has quickly become political. The BJP has cited the website’s findings to attack Rahul Gandhi, while Congress has questioned the platform’s origins and accused the BJP of using it as a political tool.
