Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.
The BJP on Friday attacked Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, calling him a “non-serious politician” after his scheduled student outreach programmes were reportedly cancelled.
BJP national spokesperson Tuhin Sinha alleged that Gandhi had been absent from public engagements for nearly two weeks and accused him of choosing a holiday over political activities. The Congress has not issued an immediate response to the allegations.
Sinha claimed that three student programmes planned by Gandhi this month were cancelled due to his absence. He alleged that Gandhi was “completely immersed in vacationing” and was using student issues only for political purposes.
How shameful that Rahul Gandhi can’t get over his holidaying spree.. apparently 3 of his previously scheduled rallies stand cancelled .. Just shows him once again as a non serious politician , besides proving that he was merely exploiting student sentiments for his vulture… https://t.co/KqeWD5PTbv pic.twitter.com/Lqx1DfD01G— Tuhin A. ‘Completely immersed in vacationing’
“It is absolutely shocking that Rahul Gandhi has cancelled three of his scheduled student rallies because he seems to be completely immersed in vacationing. He appears to be focused on his holidays,” Sinha told PTI.
The BJP spokesperson further attacked Gandhi, saying the developments showed that he was not serious about students and was using their concerns for political gains.
“Here, students may not be vacationing as much, but Rahul Gandhi, who has exploited students for his politics, has gone on a long break, leading to the cancellation of three student rallies,” he added.
Sinha also shared a post on social media claiming that Gandhi’s last verified public appearance was on June 19 and that he had not held rallies, press conferences or other public events since then.
“How shameful that Rahul Gandhi can’t get over his holidaying spree.. apparently 3 of his previously scheduled rallies stand cancelled…Just shows him once again as a non serious politician , besides proving that he was merely exploiting student sentiments for his vulture politics . Students must beware of such fly by night operators,” he said in a post on X.
