The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) has rejected speculation about differences within the party following a meeting between Union Home Minister Amit Shah and a group of senior party leaders in New Delhi, insisting that there is no leadership crisis or lack of coordination.
The controversy arose after Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Pawar and her sons, Parth and Jay, were absent from Sunday’s meeting with Amit Shah. Their absence prompted questions about their role in discussions concerning the party’s future following the death of Ajit Pawar.
NCP national chief spokesperson Umesh Patil termed reports suggesting that Sunetra Pawar and Rajya Sabha MP Parth Pawar were left out of the discussions “incorrect, baseless and misleading”.
“Attempts are being made to give an unnecessary political twist to the meeting and create a narrative of internal differences and lack of coordination within the party. The NCP is an important constituent of the Mahayuti alliance and remains united under the leadership of Sunetra Pawar,” he said.
Senior Leaders Hold Follow-up Meeting
The delegation that met Shah included Praful Patel, Sunil Tatkare, Dilip Walse Patil, Hassan Mushrif, Chhagan Bhujbal and Dhananjay Munde. Following their return to Maharashtra, the leaders held discussions at Bhujbal’s residence.
Walse Patil told PTI that the group would meet Sunetra Pawar later in the day.
