Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray has issued a sharp response following fresh developments in the Disha Salian death probe, taking a sarcastic swipe at investigative agencies. Dismissing the “political mudslinging” surrounding his family, the former Maharashtra Chief Minister questioned the absurdity of the allegations, wondering aloud why global figures were not dragged into the probe as well.

Addressing the media in Mumbai, Thackeray rejected claims linking his son, MLA Aaditya Thackeray, to the tragedy. “If such baseless allegations continue, how long should one tolerate it? I am wondering why the names of Narendra Modi and Donald Trump are missing from the case as well,” Thackeray remarked sarcastically, highlighting what he called a politically motivated witch-hunt.

Fresh CBI Investigation and Political Backlash

The controversy reignited after the Bombay High Court ordered a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the June 2020 death of celebrity manager Disha Salian. The central agency subsequently registered a case to investigate the circumstances surrounding her tragic fall from a Malad high-rise.

  • Political Targets: Rival political factions have repeatedly attempted to link Aaditya Thackeray to the incident.
  • Complete Denial: Both Uddhav and Aaditya Thackeray have maintained that they had zero connection with Salian and had never met her.
  • Call for Restraint: The Sena (UBT) leadership emphasised that they remained patient while a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was handling the matter, but warned against endless political exploitation.

Warning of Legal Action Over ‘Character Assassination’

Firmly defending his family, Uddhav Thackeray warned political opponents and media commentators that relentless “character assassination” would no longer go unanswered. He signalled that the party is preparing to initiate legal proceedings against those spreading unsubstantiated charges.

Aaditya Thackeray also reiterated his position through a public statement, describing the recurring allegations as an evidence-free attempt to smear his reputation ahead of crucial political battles.

With the CBI now handling the probe, the Thackeray faction has called for a swift, impartial investigation to put an end to speculative political narratives.
