Usha Nadkarni Latest News: Renowned television actress Usha Nadkarni has been one of the most popular faces on Indian TV who has carved a niche for herself with her versatility and convincing acting chops. In her career spanning over four decades, Usha has undoubtedly left a mark with shows like Kumkum – Ek Pyara Sa Bandhan, Thodi Si Zameen Thoda Sa Aasmaan, Kuchh Is Tara etc. However, her performance as Savita Damodar Deshmukh in Pavitra Rishta left everyone mighty impressed wherein she played the role of Sushant Singh Rajput’s mother.

In fact, Usha Nadkarni has been giving a tough fight to the youngsters and proved her mettle during the her stint in Celebrity Masterchef India wherein she not just won hearts with her cooking skills but also secured the 7th place. And while she has been an inspiration when it comes to professional life, her personal life often leaved people brimming with an opinion. Did you know, the actress, who grew up in a violent household, carved a niche for herself in the industry, had a failed marriage, has a son, is now staying along in Mumbai at the age of 80?

Usha Nadkarni Talks About Living Alone At 80

While her journey has been marked by hardships, sacrifices and resilience, Usha Nadkarni continues to be actively working at the age is and has learned to embrace solitude. In her interview with Rajshri Marathi, Usha Nadkarni revealed that she has been living along since 1987. And now that all her siblings have passed away and her son is happily settled abroad, she is quite used to of living alone.

“I’m used to it. I’ve been living alone since 1987. I’m not scared at all. I used to be scared when I first moved into my building. I would ask the guard to accompany me to my door because I was afraid somebody would attack me from behind. But I’m not scared anymore,” Usha was quoted saying.

Usha Nadkarni Reveals She Doesn’t Fear Death

Furthermore, the Pavitra Rishta actress also admitted about thinking about death but stated that she is not scared of it. “People can’t tell how they’ll die. Some people go in their sleep, some people die in the hospital. I’m not scared even one bit. If I die in my sleep, my neighbours would come knocking and think, ‘Buddhi ne darwaza nahi khola hai’,” Usha was quoted saying.

Usha Nadkarni’s Troubled Childhood & Dream For Acting

For the uninitiated, Usha Nadkarni had got candid about her difficult childhood in earlier interviews and revealed that her Air Force Officer father was violent and left her and everyone in the family in constant fear as even minor things would trigger his anger. “Once, my brother was being beaten up for some reason, and I tried to stop my father. He attacked me with a ‘koita’. You know, one of those knives with a curved edge? I got injured on my arm, and I had a play the next day. I went to perform with the injury,” she recalled. However, Usha believes in living her life on her terms and chose to pursue acting even after her mother and neighbours objected.’ I say, ‘To hell with those people. You should do whatever you want’. “I first acted when I was in 4th standard; now I am 80, and I am still acting,” Usha emphasised.

Usha Nadkarni’s Son Doesn’t Consider Her As His Mother

In fact, the veteran actress also revealed in one of her interviews that post separation from her husband while she engrossed herself in work, her son was raised by his grandmother (nani). Recalling those days when her work kept her occupied, Usha recalled how his son doesn’t consider her as his mother. Usha asserted, “I would go visit him when I had the time. There was no set schedule. Marathi plays would occupy all my time, because there would be multiple performances in a single day. My son still tells me that I’ve only given birth to him. His real mother was my mother”.

Well, Usha’s journey does make the fans emotional but it is inspiring at the same time as it is all about resilience and not giving up in life. Meanwhile, Usha was last seen in Sanjivkumar Rathod directorial The Maharashtra Files earlier this year.
