Amit Malviya, the former head of the BJP’s national IT cell, has an academic background in business management and finance, rather than engineering or technology.

Malviya completed a Bachelor of Business Management (BBM) from Dayalbagh Educational Institute, Agra, Uttar Pradesh, between 1995 and 1998.
The course gave him a foundation in business and management before he moved on to postgraduate studies.

He later pursued a Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) in Finance Management from the Symbiosis Institute of Management Studies (SIMS), Symbiosis International University, Pune.
He completed the programme between 1998 and 2000. Malviya is often described in profiles as an alumnus of Symbiosis International University.

Malviya’s listed educational qualifications are in business management and finance. He does not have an engineering degree or an IIT degree.

His academic background is therefore different from a conventional technology or engineering profile, despite his long association with the BJP’s digital and social-media operations.
