Leading shoemaker Bata India on Tuesday reported a 23 per cent on-year increase in consolidated net profit at Rs 63.98 crore in the June quarter, helped by operational efficiency, disciplined cost management and sharper execution across channels.

It had posted a net profit of Rs 52 crore in the previous April-June quarter a year ago, Bata India said in a regulatory filing.

Bata’s revenue from operations was up 4 per cent to Rs 978.95 crore in the June quarter of FY27, helped by premiumisation and volume growth.

“Topline growth was driven by Average Selling Price (ASP) with margin expansion,” Bata said in its earnings statement.

Moreover, “continued focus on operational efficiency, disciplined cost management and sharper execution across channels” helped to lift profits.

Its total expenses in the June quarter were at Rs 911.08 crore, up 3 per cent on a year-on-year basis.

“The Profit before taxes, excluding one-offs for the quarter, stood at Rs 90.6 crore, up by over 22 per cent, as against Rs 74.5 crore in the corresponding quarter last year. One-offs for the quarter include non-cash forex loss on license fees amounting to Rs 2.7 crore owing to continued currency devaluation and one-time ERP implementation cost of Rs 2.4 crore,” it said.

Bata India’s total income, which includes other income, was up 4 per cent to Rs 997 crore.

Bata Board also announced an interim dividend of Rs 25 per share, amounting to Rs 321.3 crore.

Commenting on the results, Managing Director and CEO Gunjan Shah said the company has continued its growth momentum for the third consecutive quarter.

“We are pleased to report a topline growth of 4 per cent in Q1FY27, led by a blend of premiumization and volume growth. The growth is supported by strong consumer engagement with our advertising investments up by nearly 25 per cent. We successfully navigated the global geopolitical situation impacting freight costs, shipping and transit time,” he said.

Shares of Bata India on Tuesday settled at Rs 699.50 apiece on BSE, down 1.80 per cent.
