Congress MP Imran Masood questioned Sonam Wangchuk after he ended his indefinite fast following talks with JP Nadda, calling the activist “Anna Hazare Part 2″.
“He is Anna (social activist Anna Hazare) part two. For 12 years, Anna has remained silent, and now Sonam Wangchuk will remain silent.”
He further alleged that Wangchuk had “struck a deal with the government”, asking, “At the time, was any student present there? What else is there except your personal deal with the government?”

BJP’s Shehzad Poonawalla Accuses Congress of ‘Insulting’ Wangchuk
BJP national spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla also criticised the Congress over Masood’s remarks, saying the party had “crossed all limits” by questioning Wangchuk. He claimed the Centre had engaged with protesters and addressed their demands, adding that “Congress is insulting Sonam Wangchuk because they want credit. It’s a fight of credit, not fight of pupils and students.”
He also accused Rahul Gandhi of failing to support the student movement while seeking political mileage from it.

CJP’s Abhijeet Dipke Hits Back
Responding to Masood’s remarks, Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke rejected the allegations and said the movement belongeda fighttudents, not political parties. “This movement belongs to the youth of the entire country. It is not a movement of opposition parties. The youth of this country will take this movement forward, and it is not going to weaken in any way,” he said.
Gitanjali J Angmo Defends Sonam Wangchuk
Social entrepreneur and education reform advocate Gitanjali J Angmo has appealed for compassion towards her husband, Sonam Wangchuk, urging people to refrain from criticising the activist while he remains in intensive care after nearly four weeks of fasting.
In a post on X, Angmo wrote, “Before you rush to criticise @Wangchuk66, first pause to earn the ethos of fasting for 26 days for a cause larger than yourself.”
Highlighting Wangchuk’s deteriorating health, she said he is in the ICU after losing 11 kg, including muscle mass, due to his prolonged fast. “The least we can offer him is a day of compassion before burdening him with our own expectations and political calculations,” she said.
Angmo further added, “Not everyone is qualified to judge a life of selfless service. One must first earn the moral stature to do so. Please…Have a heart.”

Sonam Wangchuk Ends Indefinite Fast After Centre Assures Action
Sonam Wangchuk on Thursday ended his indefinite hunger strike after the Centre accepted two of the Cockroach Janta Party’s three key demands and assured action on the remaining one. The decision came after a meeting between Union ministers JP Nadda and Jitendra Singh and CJP representatives. Wangchuk, who had been fasting over the alleged NEET-UG 2026 paper leak and broader examination reforms, called off his fast after nine days following the government’s assurances.
