Karnataka CM News Live Updates: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah resigned on Thursday, submitting his resignation to the Governor’s Special Secretary at Lok Bhavan following discussions with the Congress high command amid a likely leadership change in the state. His resignation was accepted by Governor Thawar Chand Gehlot a day later, on Friday.
The Congress veteran said he would continue to remain active in Karnataka politics and declined the party leadership’s suggestion to move to the Rajya Sabha. The Congress Legislature Party (CLP) and the All India Congress Committee (AICC) are expected to decide the next Chief Minister.
Meanwhile, Siddaramaiah arrived in Delhi on Friday after his special flight, carrying his son Yathindra Siddaramaiah and Congress general secretary Randeep Singh Surjewala, was diverted to Jaipur due to heavy rain and turbulence in the national capital.
Amid the political developments, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, who is likely to succeed Siddaramaiah, reached Karnataka Bhavan in New Delhi’s Chanakyapuri on Thursday, adding to speculation over the state’s next leadership arrangement.
