Trent Q1 Results

Trent on Thursday reported a 21% year-on-year (YoY) rise in consolidated net profit to Rs 519 crore for the quarter ended June.

The company had posted a profit of Rs 430 crore in the year-ago period. Revenue from operations rose 18% YoY to Rs 5,755 crore during the reporting quarter.

On a sequential basis, Trent’s net profit rose 25% from Rs 413 crore in the March quarter. Revenue from operations increased 14% from Rs 5,028 crore in Q4FY26.

Trent’s profit before exceptional items and tax stood at Rs 702 crore, up 26% from Rs 555 crore in the same quarter last year. The company reported a share of loss from associates and joint ventures of Rs 9.74 crore, compared with a share of profit of Rs 9.21 crore in the year-ago period.

Profit before tax rose 22% to Rs 692 crore from Rs 565 crore. Total tax expense for the quarter stood at Rs 174 crore, compared with Rs 140 crore a year earlier. Current tax was Rs 183 crore, while deferred tax was a credit of Rs 11.29 crore.

Total expenses increased 16% to Rs 5,083 crore from Rs 4,369 crore in the same quarter last year. Purchase of stock-in-trade, the largest cost item, rose to Rs 3,071 crore from Rs 2,570 crore. Employee benefit expense increased to Rs 371 crore from Rs 322 crore.

Depreciation and amortisation expense rose to Rs 410 crore from Rs 293 crore. Occupancy costs, including rent, increased to Rs 527 crore from Rs 489 crore. Finance costs stood at Rs 47 crore, compared with Rs 40 crore a year earlier. Other expenses increased to Rs 644 crore from Rs 511 crore. The rise in expenses reflects the company’s larger store base and higher operating scale.

The company now operates a portfolio of over 1,300 large-format fashion stores, with a presence across 330 cities, including three in the UAE. In Q1, it opened one Westside and 22 Zudio stores, including one in the UAE, consolidated three Zudio stores, and expanded its presence to nine new cities.

As of June 2026, its store portfolio comprised 301 Westside stores, 982 Zudio stores (including seven in the UAE), and 29 stores across other lifestyle concepts, with a retail footprint of over 18 million sq ft across its fashion brands.

On an annual basis, the company said it expects the pace of new store openings to remain broadly consistent with the outlook shared by the Chairman at the shareholders’ meeting.
